Roberto Curto
Writer and photographer. Life-long student and
practitioner of Buddhism and also of Taoist meditation.
Art training Studied sumi-e (Japanese monochrome ink
painting, related to Zen) under master Mizutani Jiro for many years until
Mizutani san’s passing. Then studied Cantonese painting under master Ng
Kam Tin for a brief period. After that studied Chinese calligraphy,
painting and philosophy with Wang Maw-chiuan for about four years.
Buddhist training:
Zen Four years under Soto Zen master Ryotan Tokuda Igarashi (you
can see his Brazilian website: http://www.tokuda-igarashi.net/ unfortunately there is no website of the
centers he runs in Germany, France and Spain). Tokuda san was a disciple
of Kodo Sawaki Roshi (if you want to read about him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kodo_Sawaki). He has founded more than six Zen
monasteries in Brazil and in Europe, and teaches Oriental medicine in Europe and South
America.
Vajrayana Retreats with His Eminence the venerable Choegyal
Rinpoche (my lama, because I finally settled in the Vajrayana). His
website here: http://www.choegyalrinpoche.org. Retreat with Drubwang Tsokñy
Rinpoche and with Drukpa Choegon Rinpoche, all of them of the Drukpa Kagyu Transmission.
Chan (Chinese Zen) Two years
under shifu Tsao Ting, and two years under shifu Honze, both of the Tsao
Tung lineage. This lineage was taken to Japan by Dogen Zenji, where it
took the Japanese pronunciation Soto, thus, it became Soto
Zen.
Taoist
training Received instruction of the most
important Taoist nei gong meditation tranings under Taoist master
Liu Pai-lin, during about seven retreats. Master Liu Pailin was great
grand nephew of master Liu Yunpu, who in turn, was one of the masters of
Zhao Bichen.
